TEM and deformation twins

In this Early Career Materials Researcher Letter in MRS Communications by Dr Abdo Koko (formally in Professor James Marrow's group and now at National Physical Laboratory), deformation twins have been observed in the ferrite matrix of an age-hardened duplex stainless steel using on-axis transmission Kikuchi diffraction (TKD).

The details of the lattice misorientation and dislocation arrangement provide evidence for the link between microcracking of the irregular twin/parent interface and relaxation of the residual strains that arise from twin growth.
