Religion and Belief

The University includes a diverse group of staff and students from a great variety religious and non-religious backgrounds. Equality and fair treatment of all religions is reflected in the University's equality policy. There are a wide range of faith societies, religious groups or centres in Oxford, links to which can be found on the Faith societies & belief groups page.

Many religions are represented within the department, and as part of our duty to promote equality and value diversity, we aim to accommodate requirements on the basis of religion and belief wherever possible. Provision of quiet space for prayers and offering flexibility to aid observance of religious festivals, and trying to schedule complex meeting during the morning (rather than the afternoon) during Ramadan, are some of the ways in which we aim to provide an inclusive environment in which staff and students will thrive.
