Hannah is an Associate Professor of Materials Science, a Tutorial Fellow at Trinity College and a Royal Society University Research Fellow in the Oxford Materials Department. For her full bio please follow the link to her group website. Hannah leads the Materials for Quantum Group in the department. The primary focus of the group is to probe the fundamental optical and spin physics of novel materials, ranging from quantum point defects in two-dimensional materials to molecular semiconductors. The group combines quantum optics, confocal microscopy, time-resolved spectroscopy and magnetic resonance to investigate the electronic structure and dynamics of emerging systems. We combine this expertise with the optimisation of materials growth, and nanoscale device design, to establish new platforms for various applications, from quantum sensing to quantum optical networks and solar energy harvesting. Ultimately, we utilise our findings to engineer excited and ground electronic states, thereby opening routes to implement them for next-generation technologies.
